Some exemptions
Importers, retailers, and wholesalers will be exempt from notifying price increases under the postfreeze prices regime which takes effect from tomorrow. It was incorrectly said in “The Press” yesterday that these categories of business would be required to notify price increases to the Trade and Industry Department if they had an annual turnover
of ?6.5 million or more. A spokesman for the department said yesterday that the requirement was not to notify price increases but to submit half-yearly returns showing gross profit margins. Only manufacturers with a turnover of $lO million and suppliers of services with a turnover of $3 million are required to notify price increases.
