Arab army to eat N.Z. lamb
PA Wellington The Meat Board has won a contract to supply frozen lamb to the Jordanian Army. The contract meant that New Zealand would supply about 4400 tonnes of lamb to Jordan this year, said a spokesman for the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board yesterday. The order was valuable and confirmed New Zealand’s position as the dominant supplier of frozen lamb to the Middle East, but it was not board policy to disclose financial details of such contracts, he said. New Zealand supplied a similar quantity of lamb to Jordan in 1983.
