No petrol rise imminent
PA Wellington Applications for petrol price rises are before the Government, but no increase is imminent, according to the Minister of Energy, Mr Birch, yesterday. Mr Birch said that about six applications had been made by the oil industry over the last 18 months. “We just examine them and evaluate them. At the appropriate time, when we believe it is justified, some adjustment is made,” he said. Asked if there was any chance of an adjustment soon, Mr Birch said, “I never comment on that because it only causes problems in the market place ... there is no price rise imminent.”
