Southland gallopers for Trentham
Special correspondent Invercargill Dig In and The Dimple will be Southland representatives at the two-day Wellington Racing Club’s meeting at Trentham, which starts on Saturday. Dig In has already travelled to Christchurch from where he'and The Dimple will be flown to Wellington on Thursday morning. Dig In is in the care of Mr Myles Johnson, who will also campaign his veteran stayer, Miles Better, at the carnival. There is a paucity of worth-while racing for top . South Island horses until Easter. Jim Collett has been
booked to ride Dig In in the $40,000 2ZB Golden Mile, a group three race, at Trentham on Saturday. The Dimple will contest the group three UDC Finance Handicap, a 2200 m class one test worth $25,000. Dig In and The Dimple might remain in the North Island for the Manawatu meeting at Awapuni if they come through their Trentham assignments satisfactorily. Tentative long-range plans for The Dimple might include an Australian campaign in the winter, but much will depend on the progress she makes on the autumn circuit.
