Government of Papua New Guinea Department of Health Applications are invited for the following positions: Senior Medical Electronic Technical Officer Level 16 The appointee will operate maintenance services of all x-ray equipment (Diagnostic and Therapeutic), cobalt unit at the Lae Radiotherapy Centre, all electro-medical apparatus, anaesthetic and resuscitation equipment; install equipment as required, conduct on-the-job training and advise on the proper care, maintenance, operation and storage of all equipment in hospitals The applicant must possess qualifications at certificate level in electrical or mechanical engineering, post-certificate qualifications in the repair and maintenance of x-ray and associated equipment, wide knowledge of all types of x-ray and associated equipment, ability to perform installation, operation and servicing procedures related to x-ray equipment, electro-medical apparatus, anaesthetic and resuscitation equipment, and have ability and experience to train other staff. Pharmacist (jlass 2 Level 14 The appointee will recommend amendments required to keep legislation relating to poisons, drugs and dangerous substances, etc. up to date; provide statistics on dangerous and narcotic drugs as required by the Controller of Customs, prepare departmental recommendations to the Controller of Customs on applications for licences to import; inspect commercial premises to ensure legislative provisions relating to Poisons and Dangerous Drugs are met; and inspect private pharmacies in connection with the operation of subsidised Drug Scheme and the provision of the Pharmacy Ordinance. The applicant must possess the appropriate university degree with major studies in appropriate subjects, sound knowledge of PNG hospital services and medical supply service including proofing and storage; knowledge of Finance Ordinance and Instructions, pharmacy ordinance, poisons and dangerous substances ordinances and Dangerous Drugs ordinances. Pharmacist Class 2 Level 14 The appointee will organise and supervise the pharmaceutical services for a base or major district hospital; supervise and control internal hospital wards, theatres and technical sections, including control of dangerous drugs, poisons, serological and biological products, sensitive and heat-labile drugs and preparations requiring specialised control and usage; organise the hospital's requisitioning system for all supplies and equipment; promote economical usage of drugs, medical and surgical supplies and equipment; and examine ward and theatre stocks to detect macroscopic changes, determine deterioration, arrange withdrawal and replacement, test and analyse suspect drugs or materials. The applicant must be a Registered Pharmaceutical Chemist or with pharmaceutical qualifications registrable in Papua New Guinea; have experience in hospital dispensing and arrangement of hospital medical stores and supplies.
