Naudu’s handsome lead in show jumping

The leading South Island show jumper, Naudu, ridden by Mrs Ngaire Lamb (Winton) won the Canterbury show jumping championship after jumping the only clear round in the jump-off. They increased their lead in the Bayer Amdax circuit points prize, and with a total of 93 points, leads the whole of New Zealand.

This top combination will travel north and endeavour to hold its lead when competing at Trentham, Levin, the Horse of the Year Show at Hastings, and Blenheim. The young, promising riders, Julie Srhoy (Canterbury), riding Samuel, and Claire Honeywill (Southland), on the newly up-graded Buckingham, did well to take second and third places. The A and B grade pony jumping was dominated by the Honeywill sisters from Southland. In two competitions they took the first four placings, and, in the Canterbury Pony of the Year, they missed only on second place, which went to the Canterbury rider, Leah Meares, on the former Southland pony, Barnicle Bill. Mrs Sue Alleyne and Flush dominated the medium grades, winning one medium class, the Prix St George and the medium freestyle. This combination will travel north to compete in the New Zealand Dressage championships at Gisborne after the Horse of the Year show. Results were:— F.E.I. Jumping Horses.—A Grade A2: N.
