Wheat 84 entrants sought
The search is on again to find one of the South Island’s top wheat growers. Entries for the ICI Tasman Wheat 84 competition are being invited by the organisers. The chairman of the organising committee, Mr Don Crabb, says that so far 15 entries have been received, including one from Gore. Mr Crabb said that the competition rules "would be the same as 1983 with the winner being the grower with the highest net return. ICI Tasman Limited is again offering a first prize in the form of $5OOO worth of airline travel. The competition is to be held in the Lincoln area for the third year in succession. Mr Crabb said that at least 10 competitors will be accommodated this year. Meanwhile harvesting of the nine plots in the Wheat 83 competition will be completed shortly.
