Banks Peninsula flock competition popular
The fourteenth annual Banks Peninsula two-tooth competition will be held next week on Thursday and Friday, February 9 and 10.
This popular event, for both participants and spectators, will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday on the Kaituna Valley property of Mr P. Parkinson. It will then move through Little River and the western valleys to Port Levy and Pigeon Bay, stopping to look at various competitor’s flocks.
It will end on the first day at the Hilltop property of Mr R. Calder. -
The tour on the second day starts at 8 a.m. on the property of Mr K. T. Bogan, Duvauchelle and from there moves to Little Akaloa and the eastern bays, finishing
at the French Farm property of Mr V. Shadbolt. All sheep breeders and interested people are invited to participate.
There will be a meal and presentation of results and prizes in the evening at the Duvauchelle Hotel. The judges will also speak on their impressions and rankings.
They are Mr A. Darling, Geraldine (Romney), Mr C. Clelland, Totara Valley (Perendale) and Mr M. Talbot, Temuka (Coopworth). The three judges combined to judge the crossbred section.
Entries this year total 37, with 13 Romney flocks, eight Perendales, seven Coopworths and nine crossbreds.
