Two riders fined
PA Invercargill Stephen Allen and Kevin Burnett were fined for careless riding on the first day of the Gore Racing Club’s autumn meeting on Wednesday. Allen was found guilty of allowing his mount, Sir Ceber, to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear, checking Sunshine Lady. He was fined $lOO for the incident near the home turn in the Croydon Maiden. Burnett, the rider of the winner, Noble Nymph, in the J. J. Gore Handicap, was found guilty of allowing his mount to check The Kite (S. Allen) near the 600 m.
The connections of horses who engaged Peter McKay were granted permission to substitute without penalty, as McKay had taken ill and was unable to ride ar the meeting.
