N.I. title to Shirra
PA Gisborne The present New Zealand champion, Mitch Shirra, of Auckland, was in top form to win all his heats and take the North Island solo bike championship at Awapuni Speedway at the week-end. David Bargh, of Martinborough, dropped two points to finish second, with Greg De Kok, of Auckland, one point back in third place. The top eight to go for-
ward to Saturday’s New Zealand championship meeting in Wellington are these three plus (in finishing order) Mike Fullerton (Auckland), Chris Martin (New Plymouth), Steve Duckworth (Auckland), Mike Smart (Auckland) and Peter Nightengale (Auckland).. A former New Zealand solo bike champion and sixtimes world champion, Ivan Mauger, presented the prizes.
