Shipping news Naval visit to Timaru
The Royal New Zealand Navy frigate H.M.N.Z.S. Canterbury will make a courtesy call to Timaru during the vessel’s patrol of the country’s exclusive economic zone.
Under the command of Commander J. E. N. Welch, she will berth on Friday and sail on February 6. The sporting calendar will offer a feast of recreation and entertainment to the vessel’s complement of 23 officers and 233 ratings. Sports fixtures will include cricket, tennis, golf and squash matches. H.M.N.Z.S. Canterbury will be open for public inspection on Saturday. * The Belgian Reefer, which arrived from Gisborne yesterday, is loading about 700 tonnes of frozen lamb for Aqaba.The Hakubasan Maru is on her way from Singapore to uplift fish from the Akebono Maru No. 73. Both vessels are due on February 7. The Haku-
basan Maruwill sail for Japan on February 9—two days before the Akebono Maru No. 73 returns to her fishing grounds.
