European workers shot dead

NZPA-Reuter Nairobi Gunmen have shot dead four European aid workers in two separate incidents near the Ugandan capital of Kampala, diplomats have said. Three of the dead were Swiss and the fourth was a Briton, the sources said. Another Swiss was wounded and was recovering in hospital. The sources said the gunmen, apparently armed with automatic weapons, ambushed two cars carrying the four Swiss near a sailing resort popular with expatriates at Kazi, south of Kampala on Lake Victoria. The occupants of both vehicles were forced out and shot repeatedly in the back. In the other incident, a Briton driving his car in the same area was also shot dead. Onassis visit

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis has ended a monthlong private visit to India and official sources said she might write a book based on her trip. The book would coincide with “The Festival of India," to be held in the United States next year. The idea of the festival was started by New York’s Asia Society.—New Delhi.
