Vance reminded of obligations

PA Wellington No charges have been laid against Bob Vance for his riding of I’m Henry in last Monday’s Wellington Derby. I’m Henry won the race by three-quarters of a length. The inquiry into his riding resumed on Saturday and the Wellington Racing Club’s judicial committee said it reminded Vance of his obligations and told him of the consequences if his horse has been beaten. I’m Henry eased up noticeably in the final stages ot the race and just held on to win. John Albert was fined $3O after being found guilty of careless riding in the Wallaceville Highweight at Trentham on Saturday. The charge resulted from an incident 200 m after the start when Upper Crust received a check. The com-

mittee found that the check was caused by Albert’s mount, Eimeo, moving in when not sufficiently clear. Ali Robinson, the rider of Clansman, was charged with careless riding in the Jarden Mile in connection to a check to Atrapar 500 m from the finish. However, the committee could not conclusively establish that Robinson was culpable because of the quality of the films and the charge was dismissed. Barry Griffin was also charged with careless riding after the Terrace Regency Handicap. It was alleged that he allowed his mount, Gaimoss, to run in when not sufficiently clear and cause a severe check to Elmar at the 900 m. However, the committee considered there was some doubt about Griffin’s culpability and dismissed the charge.
