Shipping news Busy week at Lyttelton

The next five days will be busy at the Lyttelton container terminal with four ships expected to call. More than 1200 container exchanges are expected to be made on the container vessels Aotea, Australian Endeavour, Darwin Trader, and Kangourou. The first vessel due is the 24.433-ton Aotea, which sails a run connecting New Zealand. Japan, and Korea. The Aotea, which is due to arrive and sail today, is expected to make about 200 exchanges. She will be followed tomorrow by the 25,144-ton Australian Endeavour, which will make about 350 exchanges. She is part of the Australia New Zealand Europe Container Service (A.N.Z.E.C.S.). On Wednesday, the 10,802-ton Darwin Trader will call at port to make about 150 container exchanges. She sails on a regular run between Australia and New Zealand as part of a service run by the Australia National Line and the Shipping Corporation. No vessels will be berthed at the terminal on Thursday, but the Kangourou, the ship which will make the biggest exchange of the week, is expected on Friday.
