20,000 at scout fair
PA Palmerston North Gate takings for fair day at the tenth national scout jamboree in Feilding on Sunday topped $8783. More than 20,000 people crowded on to the site. They included 8500 scouts, leaders and staff.
The fair-day pennant for the group raising the most “jambucks” (jamboree money) was won by the Brunner sub-camp Kenepuru (Wellington). The runner-up was the Colenson sub-camp, western Manawatu; and Marsden sub-camp, Matai (Canterbury), and Selwyn sub-camp, eastern Manawatu were third and fourth.
