Man fights off tiger
NZPA-Reuter Jakarta A man skilled in the ancient Indonesian martial art of pencak silat kept a wild tiger at bay for 30 minutes before neighbours arrived and killed the animal, newspapers reported. The papers said that Achmad, aged 31, of West Sumatra, was a master of silat, a fighting form which dates from before the fourteenth century and imitates the movements of animals, including the tiger. Indonesians also say it involves the use of magical powers.
