Harley to stay put
Stephen Harley, a former Canterbury senior tennis champion and Davis Cup squad member, will not now return to Christchurch for the bulk of the summer season.
Harley, who was scheduled to arrive home from West Germany this week, changed his mind four days ago when he discovered that he would be required to sit an examination for his coaching ticket in February.
Failure to sit the exam at: that time would mean an- 1 other year’s work before the opportunity occurred again.
Harley was expected to play for Pavroc Edgeware in the men’s senior competition, and he was to be accompanied by a German player who might have appeared for Te Kura. However, neither are coming, although Harley might return to Christchurch in August.
