The Association has also published a booklet detailing a Code, specifications and guidelines for its members, and for which it claims copyright. The certification trade marks, covering the Care Labelling Symbols, must be used in accordance with the regulations governing the use of trade marks deposited at the Trade Marks Office, Lower Hutt. Briefly, those regulations provide that the New Zealand Care Labelling Association Inc. is authorised by GINETEX to promote with manufacturers and traders in New Zealand a uniform selection of Care Labelling Symbols and a reference code of specifications and guidelines published for the benefit of consumers and traders. The Symbols/Code may only be applied to goods that have been manufactured, produced or sold by members of the Association. Membership is open to any appropriate organisation, partnership or person at a nominal subscription of $2O p.a.
