Nth Canty takes trophy
The Sir Allan Wright Trophy was won by North Canterbury at the under-17 cricket tournament in Ashburton.
Final points were: North Canterbury 18, South Canterbury 12, Suburban 10, Ashburton 0.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the tournament selector, Mr P. L. Bain, named a team to represent Canterbury Minors at the South Island under-17 tournament at Rangiora, from January 16 to 20. It is:
Stuart Alexander (captain), Murray Elvy, Dean Lund, Phillip Meadings, Grant Keenan, Dean Inch, G. Lewis (all Nth Canty), Murray Watson, Scott Ritchie (vice-captain), Chris Dockrill (Sth Canty), Jon Bond. Michael Hurley (Ashburton).
