The first Henrys
Sir, — Your news about the sale of “The Gospels of Henry the Lion” on December 8 had Matilda, whom Henry the Lion married, as the daughter of Henry II of England. She was the daughter of Henry I,
and Henry II was her son by Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of Anjou, her second husband. Henry the Lion was her first. It seems she had a thing about Henrys. — Yours, etc., G. P. SHEEHAN. December 8, 1983. [The correspondent is correct; and is thanked for putting the cabled article right. — Editor.]
