Work is almost finished on the Canterbury Rugby Union’s new headquarters at Lancaster Park. The building, which has a floor space of nearly 800 square metres, will, with furnishings, cost about $300,000. It has a board room, a president’s room, a room for the junior advisory board, an entertainment area, complete with a kitchen, and a ticket-selling area. In addition to offices for the C.R.F.U. secretary and his staff, there is also an office for the secretary-manager of the Victory’ Park Board. The union has been using the headquarters for the last two weeks, but the formal opening of the building will be left until the start of next winter. The photographs (top) show the back of the building, looking towards the rear of No. 1 stand, and (bottom), two signwriters, Mr Frank Lamport and Mr Tom McGillivray, at work on the front door.
