No change to airport services

Parliamentary reporter Services to Christchurch Airport by Air New Zealand, Qantas, and T.A.A. were not expected to change before October, 1984, the Acting Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr Bi,rch, has said.

The Minister was asked by Mr P. R. Burden (Nat., Fendalton) if flights would increase or decrease in the next 12 months.

Taking the airline forward planning period, which was to next October, no change was planned, Mr Birch said. Asked if the Government actively encouraged all civil airlines to use Christchurch Airport where possible, Mr Birch said that the Government had a positive policy to assist tourism at all ports. However, which port was used by carriers was essentially a commercial decision, he said.
