‘Mistresses kept’
NZPA-Reuter Manila The Philippines National Assembly has been asked to investigate allegations that members of the Government kept mistresses in expensive houses. An Opposition member, Hilario Davide, in a resolution tabled in the assembly, said that disclosures in the magazine, “Weekly Guardian,” showed that moral decadence in Britain was “peanuts” compared with that of the Philippines. He said the magazine alleged “there were at least eight Cabinet officials with
mistresses nested by them in plush residential houses.”
The anti-Govemment magazine also said that unnamed officials used their companions for currency smuggling and black market activities.
When sex scandals were exposed in Britain, Mr Davide said, those involved resigned of their own volition.
"But the moral decadence of the British officials is peanuts compared with that of our own officials,” he said.
