Town Hall manager
Mr Ray Sleeman, director of the Arts Centre, has been appointed manager of the Christchurch Town Hall. Sir Hamish Hay, chairman of the Town Hall Board of Management, announced the appointment yesterday. Considerable time had been taken in making the appointment, he' said. Mr Sleeman, aged 36, has a background in recreation and the arts in England and New Zealand. eminent as principal leisure services officer in the LonMon borough of Tower Hamlets. A qualified teacher, Mr Sleeman has a diploma of management studies and a bachelor of education degree. He. will take up his new post about April of next year, after his commitment to the Christchurch Festival is fulfilled in March. Mr Sleeman said yesterday that he was looking forward to his new job. He had several ideas for the Town Hall complex but ..would like to discuss them Uwith management and staff - first, he said.
