Queen’s message
PA Wellington The Queen sent a message to the Governor-Gen-eral of New Zealand, Sir David Beattie, last night, expressing her sympathy at the death of Sir Keith Holyoake.
the message, received at Government House in Wellington just before midnight, said, “I was saddened to learn of the death of Sir Keith Holyoake. “Prince Philip and I share with all New Zealan-
ders affectionate and grateful memories of his long and distinguished career as a Minister of the Crown and as my personal representative in New Zealand.”

A separate personal message of condolence was also sent by the Queen to Sir Keith’s widow, Dame Norma Holyoake. It will be known later today who will represent the Queen at the funeral.
