The - manager of Willowbank, Michael Willis (above), with Sheba, one of the wildlife reserve’s two camels. This is the time of year for much excitement at Willowbank with the arrival of many animal babies. At latest count, these included: © Two six-week-old emus which have now grown to the size of farmyard hens. The parent emu was introduced to the process of hatching
with false, “pantyhose” eggs. Once these were accepted the real eggs were added to the batch. • Three wallabies, just hanging out of the mothers’ pouches. • Two otter cubs which have just opened their eyes. • One spotted fallow deer fawn, with three more to come. • One litter of 10 multicoloured kune-kune pigs.
