Women’s studies course in Chch
The first steps towards the development of women’s studies courses in Christchurch will be taken on November 16. A meeting is being called to set up a branch of the Women’s Studies Association (Inc.). The meeting, which will be held at Hadfield House, on the comer of Park Terrace and Salisbury Street, starts at 8 p.m. It is open to all interested persons. “If a local group is set'up, it could provide support and assistance for any organisation nr group of women
wanting to start a women’s studies course,” said Mrs Avril Toohey, a Teachers’ College lecturer. Mrs Toohey is a member of the national Women’s Studies Association. The difference in approach between a Women’s Studies’ group and the Society for Research on Women is that the former encourages a wide range of studies relating to women.
