N.Z. sixth in chess
PA Wellington . New Zealand finished sixth of 10 nations at the Asian teams chess championships in New Delhi recently. Wellington’s Anthony Ker, aged 16, secured four wins and a draw from his six matches, which earned him the prize for second over all on Board 5. ■
An Aucklander, Michael Hopewell (Board 3), ended with the same record as Ker, half a . point ahead of Christchurch’s Michael Freeman on Board 6. Jonathan Sarfati, of Wellington, gained only points on Board 1 but he managed a draw with a Filipino grand master, Eugene Terre. .
