Diplomat promoted
PA Wellington New Zealand’s Ambassador to Japan, Mr Graham Ansell, has been appointed Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He will succeed Mr Malcolm Templeton, who has taken up a position at Victoria University, the State Services Commission announced yesterday. Mr Ansell, who began working in the then Department of External Affairs in 1949, has worked in Ottawa, Apia, Canberra, Suva, and Brussels. In 1980 he was seconded to the Planning Council to serve as director.
He was appointed Ambassador to Tokyo in January this year.
