Mister Kool leads all way

Mike de Filippi, who trains Mister Kool at Broadfields said he would now consider racing the Smooth Fella—Dawn Tryax colt at the New Zealand Cup meeting. Mister Kool is raced by Michael Rennie, a deer farmer, and neighbour of de Filippi. Mr Rennie bred Mister Kool. Dawn Tryax, the colt’s dam, won twice and she is also the dam of Trendy Tryax, which has taken a record 1:59.0 in the United States, and Turret, which has qualified. Freightman trailed Mister Kool and ran on gamely to finish three-quarters of a length back, with a gap of five lengths to Dunlord, which trailed handy on the outer.
Lord Louie, the favourite, tangled at the start and he was never at ease on the soft track according to his driver, Peter Jones.
