Bowls replacement
Tom Dixon, who won the Christchurch champion-of-champions singles last summer, has withdrawn from “The Press”-Air New Zealand invitation bowls singles tournament at Papanui this week-end. He has a back injury.
Dixon’s replacement is Robin Howman, of Burnside. Howman, aged 24,
is one of Christchurch’s most promising younger players. He was a very successful junior, and before moving to Burnside last season was a singles champion at Fendalton. Two years ago he skipped a team to the last eight in the Dominion fours
arid he was the beaten finalist in the open pairs last season.
