Classes will be doing their usual work and information regarding the school can be given. iH WAIMAIRI DISTRICT COUNCIL FUN RUN 1983 THE 1983 WAIMAIRI DISTRICT COUNCIL FUN RUN WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 FROM JELLIE PARK STARTING AT 9 a.m. THIS YEAR THE FUN RUN is being organised by the Walmalri District Council in co-operation with the Canterbury Region of the Heart Foundation of N.Z. and the Burnside Joggers Club. All members of the public are invited to take part. In attempting to foster interest in the values of good health and fitness the organisers have decided to make children and young people central to the activities on the day. To this end pupils, parents, teachers and friends of the schools in and adjacent to the Waimairi District have been invited to participate. The Heart Foundation and the Walmalri District Council have sponsored the activities to allow schools taking part to raise funds for their schools by participating in $lOO draws. These will be as follows: Post Primary Schools draws (2) $lOO. Intermediate Schools draw (2) $lOO. Primary Schools draws (2) $lOO. Special Draws (2) ,$lOO. The activities on the day include: The Long Run (10 kilometres). The Short Run (6 kilometres). The Walk (3 kilometres). Members of the Burnside Joggers Club will act as leaders/guldes for the long and short runs and Heart Foundation members will act In the same capacity for the walk. The Emergency Care Nurses, will be in attendance to meet the needs of those who experience difficulties during the run. Certificates of achievement will be awarded to al} who take part. The programme on the day is as follows: 8.45 a.m.: Short address by Dr D. R. Hay, C.B.E. Medical Director of the Heart Foundation of N.Z. 8.55 a.m.: Primary School $lOO draws. Intermediate School $lOO draws. Post Primary School $lOO draws. Special Draws by Mr Roger Ballantyne 0.8. E. Chairman of the Regional Committee of the Heart Foundation of N.Z. 9.00 a.m.: Official start of the Runs and Walk by Councillor Mrs Margaret Murray, Chairman Walmalri District Council. A warm invitation is extended to all citizens and Jogging Club members to take part in the Fun Fun programme.
