Freeze extended
The European Commission has extended a freeze on agricultural subsidies which it imposed on October 12 in a move to avoid farm sector insolvency. The freeze was to be continued for an unspecified period, ending no later than December 31. It came in the wake of the European Economic Community exhausting its budget while farm spending this year has risen 30 per cent. Subsidy advances for the export of farm produce were affected as well as certain aid for stocking. — Brussels.
