Show wool
Objective measurement for fibre diameter and yield will be introduced to the wool section at this year’s Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral show.
Although the competition will be judged with the traditional eye appraisal method, each entry will be objectively measured and the results used , to prepare charts for the 1984 show when objective measurement judging will take place. The association’s director, Mr N. M. Woods, said the concept of objective measurement being applied to wool judging was a radical departure from tradition. The Canterbury show would be the first major A. and P. show in the world to use this method.
