Seaman injured
NZPAGoId Coast, Queensland An injured New Zealand seaman was taken from his ship, lying off Surfers Paradise, to the Gold Coast Hospital at Southport yesterday. Able Seaman Richard Jephson, of . Dunedin, suffered internal chest injuries on Thursday night while the freighter TNT Alltrans was in the Tasman Sea on a voyage from New Zealand to Gladstone, central
Queensland. Able Seaman Jephson said he was in the recreation room when the ship rolled in heavy seas, throwing him to the deck.
A Southport Coastguard crew met the ship 6 km off Surfers Paradise and the injured man was taken to shore.
Late yesterday Able Seaman Jephson was reported to be in a satisfactory condition.
