General forecast: Rain in most districts of the North Island. Becoming fine in central Marlborough, Nelson and along the West Coast. Mainly fine but cloudy with isolated showers persisting along the southern and eastern coasts of the South Island. District forecasts: Canterbury: Cool moderate south-westerlies; scattered rain clearing; becoming fine apart from some coastal cloud. Marlborough: Occasional rain, clearing inland during the day, but showers persisting about the coast; cool southerlies becoming fresh about the coast.

Nelson: Rain clearing; fine with cool southerlies. Buller, Westland: Rain clearing; fine; moderate south-westerlies. Tomorrow: Some coastal cloud in Canterbury; fine elsewhere.
