Public Notices PUBLIC NOTICE OF APPLICATION Under Section 62 (2) of the Coalmines Act, 1979 FLETCHER Challenge, Limited, of 810 Great South Road, Penrose, Auckland, hereby gives notice that it has applied to the Secretary of Energy, Wellington, for a coal prospecting licence over the following land on Chatham Island. Private land being all that parcel of land situated in the Wellington Land District, Chatham Islands County, containing 5285 hectares more or less and comprising four parts, each described separately as follows: The first part commencing at the northern corner of Lot 3, D.P. 22735 Blocks I and H Tawlrikoko Survey District; thence generally easterly and northerly along the western boundary of Part Wharekauri 1, 4 to the north-north western corner of the said Part Wharekauri 1,4: thence easterly along the northern boundary of the said section for a distance of 500 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 199 degrees for a distance of 1750 m more or less to an unnamed legal road; thence on a bearing of 126 degrees for a distance of 850 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 044 degrees for a distance of 1860 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 082 degrees for a distance of 3000 m more or less to the eastern boundary of Part Wharekauri 1,4; thence generally south easterly then south westerly along the eastern boundary of the said section to its intersection with an unnamed legal road near Pounul Creek; thence on a bearing of 265 degrees for a distance of 1900 m more or less to an unnamed legal road; thence on a bearing of 287 degrees for a distance of 2500 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 208 degrees for a distance of 430 m more or less to a point on the western boundary of Lot 5 D.P. 22735; thence generally north westerly, northerly, and north easterly along the western boundary of Lot 5 and Lot 4 D.P. 22735 to an unnamed legal road which crosses the northern end of the said Lot 4; thence across the legal road to the south western corner of Lot 3, D.P. 22735; thence generally north easterly following the western boundary of the said Lot 3 to the point of commencement. The second part commencing at the north western corner of Kererione 21, IB (C.T. 22114 52) Block vn Tawlrikoko Survey District; thence generally north easterly and then southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of the said section to its intersection with an unnamed legal road; thence on a bearing of 180 degrees for a distance of 180 m to a point; thence by right line to the south western corner of the said section; thence northerly along the western boundary of the said section to the point of commencement. The third part commencing at the north western corner of Kererione 2481 Blocks 111 and VII Tawlrikoko Survey District; thence generally north easterly along the northen boundary of the said section for distance of 600 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 173 degrees for a distance of 1250 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 242 degrees for a distance of 450 m more or less to a point on the western boundary of Kererione Z4B1; thence generally northerly along the western boundary of the said section to the point of commencement. The fourth part commencing at the south western corner of Wharekauri IN Block 111 Tawlrikoko Survey District, Block 111 Rangltahi Survey District and Blocks I and II Te Whanga Survey District, thence generally north westerly along the western boundary of the said section for a distance of 2000 m or more or less to Its Intersection with Tahatlkl Creek; thence on a bearing of 000 degrees for a distance of 1580 m to a point; thence on a bearing of 122 degrees for a distance of 620 m more or less to a tributary of Tutuirl Creek; thence on a bearing of 095 degrees for a distance of 3550 m more or less to Tutuirl Creek; thence generally north easterly then northerly then southerly then south westerly along the northern, eastern and southern boundaries of the said Wharekauri IN to the point of commencement.
