Red light blitz
The Ministry of Transport will wage war on drivers who “crash” red lights next week.
The chief traffic officer in Christchurch, Mr G. W. Hames, said yesterday that the "concentrated campaign” would start on Monday morning and run for a week.
Traffic officers would be stationed at lights just about all day long to catch drivers who ignored the red signal Special attention would be paid to lights on main roads.
Ignoring red lights was “an offence which is all too prevalent,” he said.
