Situations Vacant Situations Vacant POFFiCER CAREERS WORKS OFFICER 1 Applications are invited for a position as a Works Officer in the Administrative and Supply Branch (Special Duties Division) of the RNZAF. This position will ideally suit a person who has had experience with ■ f Government or Local Bodies in the administration and supervision of building construction and public works. DUTIES: These will cover investigation, reporting, round figure estimations and recommendations concerning planned works projects on RNZAF Bases; implementation of various works projects and supervision of certain special projects including progress ! reports; and liaison with Ministry of Works and Development, other government departments, the other Services and private consultants. CONDITIONS: The successful applicant will be required to serve a probationary period of one year, must be a New Zealand citizen and physically fit. The terms of engagement will normally be for a fixed term to the age of 45 years. AGE AND QUALIFICATIONS: The RNZAF is looking for a person in the 24-30 age bracket with a background in any of the engineering or building disciplines. Qualifications in the fields of NZCE, NZCB, NZCD or NZCQS or membership of a recognised technicians institute or organisation would be desirable. A person working towards qualification of one of the NZ Certificates mentioned, would be considered. AF4O SYSTEMS PLANNER THE DEPARTMENT Is seeking a person who is practical, self-motivated with a drive to attain new goals and is keen to work with computer graphic systems for its computer mapping unit (CMU) in Wellington. The CMU comprises a small team involved in the research and development of computer aided draughting and mapping. Future proposals include the introduction of production units in the department’s twelve district offices. Present equipment consists of two PDP-11 minicomputers running the RSX-UM operating system. Software development is done in pascal and fortran. Peripherals include grapahic digitising tablets, graphic screens, flat-bed plotters and voice recognition unit. The successful applicant will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and be responsible to the senior systems planner for the development and maintenance of software In areas such as: ® The New Zealand index to places and streets for electoral purposes. ® Computer assisted cadastral mapping ® Aeronautical charting ® Systems programming Programming experience preferably using computer graphics and/or a knowledge of database and communication systems would be an advantage.
