A king for Australia?
NZPA Sydney A former House of Representatives’ Speaker, Sir Billy Sneddon, has called for a king to replace Australia’s Governor-General, and suggested in a speech in Brisbane that the new monarch be one of Prince Charles’ younger brothers. He said the move would resolve constitutional problems, was in keeping with the British system of responsible government, but was just as radical as the proposal for an elected Gov-ernor-General.
