Steady Edition picked at Methven today
By

Steady Edition could not sustain a scorching pace in front in last week’s D.B. Superstar Series Final over 2600 m at Addington, but looks much better placed at the Methven Trotting Club’s meeting today. The promising Lauristontrained four-year-old began to feel the effects on the home turn last week, winding up sixth in a talented field, and was by no means disgraced.
From the ace over 2000 m in the S. G. Holmes Memorial today, he is sure to make his rivals work hard for victory and looks a dominating favourite for T.A.B. trebles investors. Star Patron, Hydro Light, which has a good record on grass tracks, Vanda Hanover, Kahlua Princess, Acapulco and Secret Knight, which looked forward at the Addington trials on Wednesday, are others worthy of consideration. A small but open field has
been carded for the second leg of the treble, the Methven Four-year-old Stakes, with Glamour Chief, the runner-up to Mighty Me in last season’s New Zealand Derby, capable of a bold showing. Mike Adios, an unlucky second to Spangled Lord at Addington at his last start, will be a popular fancy in the first leg, the Stavely Handicap, with Taumutu Lad, Star Rule, Lord Tryax and Skipper Nordell, others with strong form claims.
