Advertisement Fusion with your hair When a man starts losing his hair — and at least 40 per cent of men will go bald to some extent — he is left with several alternatives. The easiest, and cheap-, est course is to do nothing or buy a hat. Some men feel that going bald is just a fact of life which they have to accept, and to also accept comments from friends, like “Hello Kojak,” chrome dome, skinhead etc. For others, the first sign of hair loss is very disconcerting and there is much anxious “mirror gazing” for further evidence of hair loss. These men will then search for an answer — hair potions, wigs, toupees, transplants or hairfusion. As its impossible to say which method is best for each individual, he should explore every avenue before making his final decision. A company which claims to have 75 per cent of the hair replacement market in N.Z. is Barringtons Hair Studios, having offices in Christchurch, Auckland, Hamilton, dunedin and shortly Wellington. Hundreds of clients have already taken adventage of the unique hairfusion system. The client starts with a free no obligation appointment at which time a template, hair cuttings are taken and the finished hair style is chosen, either from old photographs or from photos of styles which the studio has. When the hairfusion unit has been manufactured (usually from 4-6 weeks) it is fitted to the clients head using the clients own glandular hair to hold the unit in place. These fusion points are sealed with a special medical adhesive. The hair is then precision cut to give a very naturala looking hair style. Once fitted with hairfusion, it is only necessary for the client to return to the studio every six to eight weeks so his (natural) hair can be cut and styled. Cost is of course an important consideration. The hairfusion system has an initial cost of around $7OO and refusion and styling visits up to $l4O a year.
