Aust, mining, oil stocks lead fall
NZPA Sydney Australian share prices fell widely yesterday led by sharp declines throughout the re-
source sector. The all-ordinaries index fell steadily 1 to close 8.3 points lower at 706.5. The all-re-sources index fell 12.5 points. The all-industrials index fell only 2.8 points to 871.6, Brokers attributed the sharp decline primarily to the overnight downturn on Wall Street. BHP led the retreat among the miners, dropping 30c to 1205. Western Mining fell 16c to 454, MIM 15c to 405, EZ Industries 14c to 586, CRA 14c to 582, CSR 10c to 408, Bougainville Copper 6c to 262 and North BH 3c to 332. Gold stocks also fell heavily, despite little change overnight in world bullion prices. GMK fell 30c to 1210, Central Norseman 20c to 760, Poseidon 20c to 570, Whim Creek 10c to 300, and 5c losses took Renison to 450, Carr Boyd to 140 and North Kalgurli to 132.
