Children ‘paying with their lives’
A new six-part series about road safety for children Will begin on One at 6.15 p.m. today. Produced by Television New Zealand in Christchurch, the programmes were made in
association with the Ministry of Transport and highlight specific dangers for children. As the programme bluntly states, children are paying with their lives for the carelessness and ignorance of their parents. The first programme in the series deals with the danger period of after school, when children are most prone to be involved in accidents. Subsequent programmes look at other dangers of which parents and adults are often not aware. The presented for “Traffic in a World of Play” is Heather Shanahan, and the producer was John Wansnrough.
