Berryfruit marketing authority
PA Invercargill Membership of the newly formed Berryfruit Marketing Licensing Authority has been announced by the Under-Secretary for Agriculture, Mr Austin. The authority’s job will be to work out a co-ordinated marketing strategy for the exporting of berryfruit and to licence approved exporters.
The nine-member authority comprises Mrs Hilary Sutherland (Invercargill) and Mr Hugh Quigley (Christchurch), representing the New Zealand Blackcurrant Growers’ Council; Mr Ronald Halford (Otaki) and Mr Philip Field (Richmond), representing boysenberry growers; Mr James Dekker (Masterton) and Mr Richard Somerfield (Tauranga), representing the New Zealand Berryfruit Growers’ Federation; Mr Dexter Taylor (Nelson) and Mr Peter MacDonald (Wellington), representing the Horticultural Exporters’ Council; and a Government nominee, Dr William Shroder, a reader in agricultural economics: and marketing at Massey University.
