Jockey fined $5000
NZPA Brisbane The top Brisbane jockey, Gavan Duffy, has been suspended for six months and fined $5OOO, after Queensland Turf Club stewards found him guilty of improper riding at Doomben last Saturday. Duffy, who was also suspended by stewards for three months and a foul riding charge last October, was suspended up to and including February 28 for his excessive use of the whip on Afro Lady over the concluding stages of the Jim Pike Graduation at Doomben last weekend.
