Murder charge
PA Tauranga Valentine Barclay Nicholas, aged 21, of Maketu, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Manu Paul at the Paengaroa Tavern on June 4 at the depositions hearing in the District Court at Tauranga this week. Nicholas, an unemployed forestry worker, was remanded in custody to stand trial in the High Court at Rotorua on October 17.
