Indoor bowls fours
A Lincoln team of M. Boon, A. Shankie, B. Caldwell, and D. Adams won the Ellesmere indoor bowls fours championship from L. Stewart, V. Dawson, W. Bonifacio and M. Adams (Dunsandel) in a close final, 98. The teams entered the last I end of the final with the score tied at 8-8. With the advantage see-sawing, Boon held the single shot required to win the title. Results: Quarter-finals: N. Lancaster 12, C. Powell 9; L. Stewart 8, A. Chapman 3; M. Henderson 8, D. Dillon 2; M. Boon 5, C. Jordan 3. Semi-finals: Stewart 7, Lancaster 5; Boon 18, Henderson 2. Final: Boon 9, Stewart 8. The Combined Workingmen’s Clubs Association had a narrow 31-25 win in their annual match against Ellesmere at Leeston. The fours matches were drawn and Ellesmere gained a one-point advantage in the pairs. Combined W.M.C. singles players performed well to secure the match advantage.
