NZPA-Reuter Miami Some time in June, someone in New York got hold of the telephone credit card number of a Miami businesswoman, Ms Bernice McKenny. In July, Ms McKenny received a bill, 1853 pages long, for $312,500. “It’s a monster,” said a telephone company spokesman, Mr Don Mathis. “We’ve never seen anything like this around here.” Most of the long-distance calls on Ms McKenny’s bill were placed from New York to Haiti. Operators recorded an international call charged to Ms McKenny’s card every two minutes over a 15-day period, Mr Mathis said.
