Attempted murder trial
PA Palmerston North A schoolboy, aged 15, has been remanded in custody to stand trial on a charge that he attempted to murder another boy on June 13. He allegedly lay in wait and shot at the boy in a Palmerston North school’s grounds, a Crown prosecutor, Mr D. C. McKegg, said at a depositions hearing in the Children’s and Young Persons’ Court at Palmers-
ton North, yesterday. After the hearing, Messrs G. A. Hills and F. G. Quill, Justices of the Peace, ruled the evidence was sufficient to put the defendant on trial for the alleged offence. Judge Satyanand remanded the defendant in custody to appear in the District Court at Palmerston North on August 18. Application for bail was turned down.
